Professor Dr. Norazmi Mohd Nor

Is a Professor of Molecular Immunology and Dean of the School of Health Sciences, Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM). He obtained his B.Sc (Hon) from Monash University, Australia and his PhD from Flinders University, Australia. Norazmi’s main research activities are in the development of an improved vaccine, therapeutics and diagnostics for tuberculosis (TB).He has secured more than RM20m (~USD5m) in research funding as Principal Investigator, including securing back-to-back funding for The Long-Term Research Grant Scheme from the Ministry of Higher Education as well as the prestigious international funding from the Global Health Innovative Technology Fund. Norazmi has more than 150 scientific publications in peer reviewed journals

Prof. Norazmi has research collaborations with several institutions in Mexico, Spain, Chile, Japan and Australia. He frequently sits in national and international review panels for research grant proposals including, recently a special grant for research into COVID vaccine development by MOSTI and other related COVID research by the Medical Research Council, UK. Norazmi also frequently reviews scientific manuscripts for publication in pretigious journals. He is also involved in many strategic planning for research in Malaysia, especially for the Ministry of Higher Education and MOSTI.

Norazmi’s scientific contribution to the country was recognized when he was inducted as a Fellow of the Academy of Sciences, Malaysia in 2012.

Dr. THAM Seng Kong

Dr. THAM Seng Kong

Is an established member of the Malaysian Society for Stem Cell Research & Therapy (MSCRT) and the Malaysia Association for Cell Therapy (MACT) in Malaysia. He is a veteran in the field of life sciences, with a genuine passion for the field of Cellular Therapy. Dr. THAM earned his Bachelor of Medicine from Xiamen University, Doctor of Medicine (MD) Integrated Chinese Medicine & Western Clinical Medicine (Oncology) from Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine (GUCM) and Doctor of Medicine (MD) in Biomedical Engineering.
He is involved in ongoing extensive research on anti-aging cellular therapy research since 2006. He works very closely with his Swiss and Asian counterparts in advancing the human understanding of cellular therapy and is eager to share his experiences in this field.

He also actively participates in cancer research and described in his recent publication on the successful construction of retroviral transfection system that could be developed as a means of gene therapy for hepatic carcinoma. A very new patent was just granted on an Instrument for rapidly extracting and separating stem cell exosomes( patent/CN212476724). One of his important scientific breakthroughs is the discovery of penetrating tyrosinase inhibitor to reduce the production of melanin for skin beauty and whitening.

Dr. Tham as Group Chief Executive Officer and Group Chief Research Scientist will be the main person who leads and drives ALPS Group to greater heights towards the recognition as a global biotechnology company serving the humanity.

Prof Manickam RAVICHANDRAN

Prof Manickam Ravichandran

Is the Dean of Faculty of Applied Sciences, AIMST University. He obtained his M.Sc.-Medical Microbiology from Christian Medical College, Vellore and gained his PhD in Biotechnology degree from Anna University, Chennai, India. Currently, his research interests are genetically engineered cholera vaccine and formulation, molecular diagnostics and phage therapy. He has 77 publications in international journals with a cumulative impact factor of 152 and 950 citations, supervised 40 postgraduate students, filed 8 patents and commercialized 3 products on diagnostics. He has been awarded 44 national and international awards for academic and research excellence including Ideas Inventions New Products – (IENA), Nuremberg Germany; International Exhibition of Inventions: New Technologies and Products, Geneva and Anugerah Inovasi Negara, Malaysia. He was an associate member and the Committee member on ‘TOP RESEARCH SCIENTISTS MALAYSIA’ (TRSM) of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM). He was the former Vice-Chancellor of AIMST University, Malaysia.

Dr. Khairul Anuar bin CHE AZMI

Dr. Khairul Anuar bin Che Azmi

Is currently the Legal Advisor at Universiti Sains Malaysia (USM.  Prior to joining USM in 2008, he was a solicitor at Johnson Lawyers, Adelaide Australia. He possesses more than 23 years experience as a legal practitioner, practicing in both Malaysia and Australia.

Khairul advises on matters relating to University’s Good Governance and Autonomy, including in the area of business law and intellectual property rights & commercialization, medico-legal and other related legal affairs.

He is a Certified Integrity Officer from Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), Certified Legal Drafter of Royal Institute of Public Administration (RIPA) International London, Certified Arbitrator Malaysia Chapter, a Certified Professional Intellectual Property Manager (CPIPM) of Malaysian Institute of Management (MIM) and a Certified Ombudsman from Pepperdine University, USA. 

Khairul also acts as a Legal Entity Appointed Representative (LEAR) of European Commission (EU) as well as the Intellectual Property Consultant to couple of local and international universities in South East Asia. He is actively involves as speakers in the legal area of intellectual property, innovation & commercialization in various countries including Singapore, Thailand, Brunei, Cuba, Nigeria, Kuwait, Sudan and Trinidad & Tobago and has been speaking on academic integrity and ombudsman in Paris and Seattle. 

Internationally, Khairul has been presenting issues on corruption at the International for Educational Planning (IIEP), an institution under UNESCO on the topic: “Anti-Corruption Units at University Level – How Effective Are They” as well as in the International Anti-Corruption Conference on the subject matter revolving and engaging tomorrow’s professional in leading anti-corruption initiatives.
